Robert W. Yard

Robert W. Yard, of Farmersville, IL, passed away peacefully on August 26 at the age of 95.

He is survived by his two children, Sandy Patrick (Steve) of Waterloo, IL and Dennis Yard (Debby) of Farmersville and five grandchildren: Tina Zimmerman (Chris), Jon Yard (Meredith), Doug Yard (Samantha), Brian Patrick (Rennie) and Jeff Patrick (Kathryn). He was great grandfather to Alex and Elyse Patrick, Mallory and Grant Zimmerman, Gretchen Yard, and Monty and Madison Yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester L. Yard and Jessie (VanWinkle) Yard; brothers John and Glenn; his wife Jo (Welch) Yard and an infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn.

Robert graduated from Farmersville H. S. in 1939. He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1942, serving in the south Pacific. While at Ft. Lewis, Washington, he married Ida Josephine Welch, of Farmersville.

He farmed for many years and worked for the Illinois Secretary of State from 1971 until he retired in 1989.

Robert and Jo were lifelong members of the Farmersville Methodist Church and were members of the Holiday Ramblers RV Club number 222. Bob loved the outdoors and was a Boy Scout leader for several years.Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3 with the memorial service immediately following at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon, IL. Interment will be at the Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville.
