Rebecca “Becky” Enrietto, 59, of Springfield passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Heritage Health, Springfield.
She was born July 9, 1958 in Springfield, the daughter of John and Nancy Easley Enrietto, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Becky graduated from Auburn High School. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan with a bachelor’s in music education. She worked as an announcer and news reporter at WTAX A.M. in Springfield for 12 years as a political editor of the Illinois News Network. She reported government and state news from the state capital for 60 radio stations across Illinois including RMOX in STL, WMAQ and WGN in Chicago. She won a number of broadcasting awards including Best Feature for Illinois Notebook. Becky left radio to work in Governor Jim Edgars press office in Chicago. She later became a spokesperson for the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. She earned a master degree in public admin from UIS in 2008.
Becky was a lover of animals and supported many animal welfare organizations. She also faithful attendee of Illinois Symphony concerts and Muni Opera.
Surviving are her faithful companion cat, Smurfie and dog, Frosty.
Visitation will be from 1pm till time of services at 2pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn with Rev. Brian Caughlin officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
