Oren Eugene "Gene" Scott

Oren Eugene “Gene” Scott, 95 of Pawnee passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 in Hillsboro.

He was born Jan 2, 1922 in Pawnee, the son of Clarence and Edith Landrey Scott.

He married Leona Florence Huls on Oct. 10, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1989.  He later married Doris Mae Davis on May 16, 1992 and she preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2014.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a first sergeant in the 157th regiment of the 45th infantry division in Europe. He was employed at C&IM Rail Road for 8 years and worked for Fiat-Allis for 35 years until his retirement.

Gene was very proud of bowling a 300 game at Strike and Spare in 1967.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Kent Myron Scott of Goodland, KS and Kevin Eugene (Sheila) Scott of Belvidere, IL; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Jeannie) Scott of Pawnee; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till time of services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at Bramley Funeral Home, Divernon with Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating.  Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, will military honors will be conducted by Sangamon County Inter-Veterans.

Memorials may be made to the Pawnee United Methodist Church or the Pawnee Food Pantry.
