James "Joe" Harney

James “Joe” Harney, 80 of Auburn passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born Aug. 25, 1936 in Springfield, the son of Eugene and Helen Cleaver Harney.

He married Laura Bringuet on Nov. 22, 1958 in Springfield and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2014.

Joe served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He retired as a machine repairman from Ford Motor Company.  He enjoyed his free time being a private pilot. 

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Harney and Karen (Benjamin) Mills; one son, Jim Harney; six grandchildren; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; one brother, Paul Harney; several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 3pm till 5pm, Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am, Monday at St. Benedict’s Church, Auburn with Rev. Rev. James Palakudy officiating.  Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with military honors conducted.
