Harry Moore Obituary

Harry William “Bill” Moore, 90, of Springfield, formerly of Divernon died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 26, 1928 in Milton, IL, the son of Ernest and Vida B. Moore.

He married Betty Jean Klein in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1993. He married Audrey J. Jenkins in 2003.

Mr. Moore graduated from Milton High School in 1946. He worked in his father’s blacksmith shop until 1950. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Army Engineers and in the Army reserves until 1961. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 38 years and 8 months.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey; two step-sons, Scott (Mary Beth) Jenkins of Pawnee and Jeff (Ann) Jenkins of Chatham; one step-daughter, Shelly (Jim) Matheis of Springfield; four step-grandchildren, Cody Jenkins, Adam Jenkins, Sara Jenkins and Kenna Matheis.

Private services will be held. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital.
