Ann Hope Howorth Raa

Ann Hope Howorth Raa, 74, of Chatham passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at her home.

She was born April 27, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Willett C. and Esther Martha Requarth Howorth. 

She left Springfield for California where she met a true Polynesian Prince, Terooatea a’Raa Ariiotima in San Francisco.  They married and she sailed away with him to Papeete, Tahiti.

Ann had a keen interest in religions of the world, which led her to the study of Tendai Buddhism in Tokyo, Japan. Eventually her heart led her to the faith she had always loved from her studies at Sacred Heart Academy, Catholicism.  She was a wonderful storyteller and a Sunday School teacher at Blessed Sacrament and St. Augustine Catholic Hall in Ashland. 

Her smile and love of life will continue on in her daughter’s hearts and personalities.   She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her daughters, Mata of Majorca, Spain and Holly of Tahiti; two granddaughters, Tiare and Tararaina; many cousins including, Carl Ostermeier and Susan Tesar.

Per Ann’s wishes, private family services were held.
